ABERDARE- NAKURU/MAASAI MARA 4NIGHTS/5 DAYS
DAY 1
Drive north towards the slopes of Aberdare passing by the biggest plantation of pineapple in Africa to arrive at your base hotel in time for lunch. Afternoon you will be transfer to a tree Hotel for an afternoon tea. Later diner and overnight game viewing at the natural salt-lick and flood-light water hole. There is an underground photograph hide, which give you an unsurpassed view of big wild game at very close quarters. Tree hotel [Full board]
NB: Children under 5yrs are not allowed in the tree hotel.
Owing to the cabin size only a small bag is allowed in the hotel, the rest of the luggage is left in the base hotel for retrieval in the following day.
DAY 2
Retransferred to your base hotel and rejoin your driver/guide. Depart to L Nakuru National park via Thompson's fall to arrive in time for lunch. The falls lies on the ewaso Narok River. It falls 72m, the mist feeding the dense forest below. You can either check the fall from above or go down a trail to the bottom ravine. There will be an evening game drive plus a visit to Baboon cliff to have a colorful view of “pink Lake”. The park is a famous sanctuary for the rare Rothschild Giraffe and Black Rhinos. The forest around the lake is a host to a wide variety of flora and fauna including the remnant of euphorbia forest and over 450 bird's species. Lunch and overnight at a luxurious lodge [Full board]
Day 3
After breakfast, drive towards world's famous game reserve Maasai Mara to arrive in time for lunch. There will be an evening game drive, when the savannah is filled with a special animation. This is when the larger predators hunt for their food, since the temperature is not hot for any excessive physical activity. This is the time we have the highest chances of watching a hunt in action. The colours of the landscape are also more accentuated, and help us to take great photographs. Dinner and overnight will be at your lodge. [Full board]
Day 4
Sunrise over the open grasslands will signal the start of a full day on game filled plains. The Maasai Mara National Reserve offers wonderful scenery with an abundance of big game. With its rolling plains and grasslands it is reminiscent of "Hemingway Country". There are very large herds of buffalo, wildebeest and various antelope. In addition hippo, giraffe, rhino, elephant and leopard are frequently seen. But the Mara is renowned for its magnificent black-manned lions with their large prides that spend most of the day sleeping in the shade of the acacia trees. The Mara is also the scene of the spectacular migration of wild beast that comes through the Mara in their 1500km round annual trek from southern plains in the Serengeti. There can be optional activities but at an extra cost like a visit to a Maasai Manyatta. All meals and overnight will be at your lodge.
Day 5
Depart from Maasai Mara heading to Nairobi after breakfast. There will be a stop over at the Great Rift Valley viewing site where you will get it spectacular view, then proceed through kikuyu escarpment to Nairobi. Lunch will be at “Utamanduni” and later proceed to Bomas of Kenya to watch traditional dances and cultural huts. Later in the evening we proceed to the famous carnivore restaurant for a farewell dinner and then you will be transferred to the airport for your out bound flight.
